Backyard Progress

We finally put in our pool! Don't you just want to dive right in? :) Todd had a great idea to lay out a rope that is the length of our intended pool perimeter so we could get an idea of where the pool will go and how much space it will take up.

My sweet husband spent the majority of his Christmas vacation time laying blocks to build our raised vegetable and flower gardens in the backyard. There is still a lot of work to be done, but it's exciting to see something in our backyard now when we look out the windows! I can't wait to start gardening again!

Staking out the footers:

We also planted a lemon, tangelo, and sissoo tree. The tangelo tree has produced three ripe and delicious pieces of fruit so far, and the lemon tree is loaded with green lemons ready to ripen soon.

The large front bed will be for vegetables and the two triangular beds for flowers.

Working hard to make sure everything is level:

The next steps are to install a drip irrigation system and cover the concrete blocks with stack stone similar to this:

Hey Heather, I bet you're making plenty of progress on your gardens by now, and wanted to pass along the link to my friend Rachel's blog - http://fixingoureyes.blogspot.com/. She's gardening right now too, and in case you need some free compost/manure to get going, she tells in her current post about a place in Mesa that's giving it away. Love you!!!

Heather, I just got your email and have emailed you back, but realized that I don't think you'll get it because it goes back to Blogger. So, I'll post my email here with hopes you get it and we can meet!

Hi Heather! First off, I am so very sorry you are walking the journey too, I know how rough it is and I'm sorry. I'm sure you can relate with the feeling of nobody else gets it, so hello my new friend:)!
Have you had an amnio done yet? What markers make them think it's Trisomy 18? What is your little girl's name? I'll start praying for her and for you guys too. It surprises me that they have you in the hospital, they told me that with Trisomy 18 if you go into preterm labor, they just let it happen instead of preventing things. Who is your OB? Do you have a specialist yet (we don't).
Sorry for all the questions. If you'd like to meet, I'd be more than happy to visit you in the hospital sometime! My husband is a teacher so he is home to watch my kiddos, so I'd be able to sneak away and see you! Do you by chance go to East Valley Church? We go to Central Christian, but I know a ton of East Valley people, and figured they are the ones who told you about the blog.
I wish there were words I could type right now to encourage you, but just know I will pray, and sometimes there just aren't words huh? Let me know what I can do for you and what specific things you need prayer for. Also...if I can visit, I'd love to! So nice hearing from you, thank you for your email!
